Do you believe that you are worthy of God’s love?
If you don’t, you’re not alone. For years I had a hard time believing God loved me. I based His love on what I did in the past or what I didn’t do or wasn’t. I felt like I could never measure up to His standards. I felt inadequate, unworthy, I mean how could the God of the universe Love me, I couldn’t even comprehend. I grew up believing that I had to be perfect and do everything right to be loved or earned for that matter. Even when I came to Christ I had a hard time believing God loved me and why should I have doubted if Christ dying on the cross for me was the ultimate demonstration of love, why couldn’t I feel His love, His approval, His acceptance?
Why? because there was a lie imbedded in my belief system since childhood.
I didn’t start believing God loved me until I started spending more time in His presence and reading His word. He dismantled the lie that I had to perform or earn His love. He would speak to my heart and tell me that If I failed and fall short of His glory He would still love me no matter what. Not to say that He wouldn’t be grieved by my sin, but I didn’t have to earn His love or be perfect in order for Him to love me. He already did, that had nothing to do with me, but in His word, it says that even while we were still sinners He loved us.
But, God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8
We didn’t even know Him, didn’t even have a relationship with Him and He loved us.
For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 NIV
His word also says;
Just as (in His love) He chose us in Christ (actually selected us for himself as His own) before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy (that is consecrated set apart for Him, purpose driven) and blameless in His sight. Ephesians 1:4
Think about this, He chose us before the foundation of the world.
So that we would be Holy not already are holy, so He loved us when we were not holy not yet perfected in Christ. Consecrated and set apart for him. And how can we be holy, consecrated and set apart, only through Christ the Holy and Perfect one, by accepting Christ and believing in him first.
We become set apart when we spend time with Him healing us, renewing our mind and cleansing us from the past present and future.
And living a blameless life is only through His son and the Holy spirit that empowers us because without Him we can do nothing.
So, He loved us even before the world existed.
There is no greater love than His love, no human love can compare to Gods love.
He is the only one that can love us purely and unconditionally!
He loves you, He loves me, He loves the world, broken and all. That’s why He sent Jesus, who is perfect so that we would be perfected through him and by him with His love and sacrifice.
My prayer today is that you would feel Gods love and acceptance, because You are Worthy of His love!
