I have been working on this bible study from Susie Larson, Fully Alive and it never ceases to amaze me that the fear issue still comes up. One of the questions that came up was, “Do you fear the worst?” or believe the best in people or circumstances in your life?
Well, I can honestly say with embarrassment that yes sometimes I still do tend to believe the worst instead of believing God’s best. I can say though, I am getting better as long as I am surrendering these areas and people to God. The real issue I think or question is, Am I fully trusting God with these people in my life? or trusting God in my circumstances?
Fear I believe is rooted from not trusting God. His love perfects those areas, He perfects us in His love so that fear does not remain. His word says there is no fear in love;
Perfect love drives out all fear. So then, love has not been made perfect in anyone who is afraid, because fear has to do with punishment. 1 John 4:18
My prayer is, God perfect us in your love so that we can fully trust you that you are Good and that your thoughts towards us are always good and pure. Heal us so that we too can think good thoughts, always hope for the best and believe your Truth and not our own.
